The next-maintainer test
This fictional maintenance exercise helps you judge whether a handover is complete. It is a practical checklist, not a claim about a delivered client system.
Ask a colleague to locate the content editor, change a test service description, preview it in each required language, publish it in an isolated environment and restore the previous version. Give them the proposed documentation and observe where they need an undocumented explanation.
Record the owner, location and recovery route for the domain, hosting, source and email service without putting secrets in the document. Add the command or button used to deploy, the evidence of success and the rollback step. If one answer depends entirely on a former contractor's personal account, resolve ownership before treating the handover as complete.
